Michael (Jacko) Hallahan, 93, of Nesquehoning, entered into eternal rest Monday, February 18, 2013 in Maple Shade Meadows, Nesquehoning. Born in Nesquehoning, he was a son of the late Andrew and Anna (Jupin) Hallahan. He lived in Chicago, IL for many years and was employed as an Engineer Construction Manager designing roadways in the Chicago area until retiring. After his retirement, he returned to live in Nesquehoning. He was a U.S. Army
Veteran serving as a staff sergeant during WWII
in the European African Middle Eastern Theatre of Operations. Michael was the recipient of a Bronze Star
for his heroic achievements in Italy in October, 1944. He was a member of St. Johns Russian Orthodox Church in Nesquehoning. Survivors:
Surviving are nieces, Linda and her husband John Roscoe of Lancaster, PA, Ilona and her husband John Zubek of Nesquehoning, PA and Andrea and her husband Kevin McManus of Collegeville, PA; nephew, James Biduck and Mary Ann Davis of Nesquehoning, PA; great-nieces, Meredith McManus, Lindsey McManus and Tanya Hood; great-nephew, Andrew Thear. He was also preceded in death by brothers, George, Stephen, and John; and sisters, Ann, Justine, Mary, and Ella. Services:
A Divine Liturgy will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at St. Johns Russian Orthodox Church, Nesquehoning with Rev. Robert J. Teklinski officiating. Military Graveside Services under the direction of the Panther Valley JROTC will be held at the parish cemetery in Nesquehoning. Call Wednesday, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the church.
