Michael E. Kush, 75, of Lower Saucon Township, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, December 21, 2013. He was the husband of Martha (Fahs) Kush, with whom he shared many years of loving marriage. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late William and Amelia (Gralka) Kush. He served his country in the US Army, and later became a firefighter for the Allentown Fire Department, retiring as a lieutenant after 23 years of service. He was active in the Union Historical Fire Society, and coordinated the annual Spring Melt Fire and Antique Show at Ag Hall to benefit area burn centers. He also sold sports and fire memorabilia at Renningers Antique Market for over 30 years. He was an avid baseball and softball player, most recently for the Patriots Old Timers in Allentown, where he also coached and managed the team. He loved the outdoors, and was an avid hunter. Michael was a former member of St. Stephens Evangelical Lutheran Church. Survivors: Wife, Martha; daughter, Jill Kush-Johns and her husband David Johns of Swoyersville; grandchildren, Amanda Thompson, Teriane Streitel, David, Michael and Tessa Johns; great-granddaughter, Gwen Johns. Michael was predeceased by his brother, William Kush. Services: Funeral Services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, December 26 in the Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden Street, Bethlehem, where friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of services.
