Muriel A. Harmany
Muriel A. Harmany, 91, formerly of Allentown, died February 16, 2013 at Moravian Hall Square, Nazareth. She was the wife of the late Charles C. Harmany who died September 2012. They were married 66 years. Born in West Palm Beach, Florida, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Bertha (Ward) Matthews. Raised in Forth Worth, Texas, she was a graduate of North Texas State and Lehigh University. Muriel taught three years in the Fort Worth Independent School District before her marriage, and 17 years in the Allentown School District. She taught first and second grade at the Washington Elementary School.
Muriel was a member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church, Whitehall, and Alpha Delta Kappa, an honorary organization for women educators. Survivors:
Son, Charles C. Harmany Jr. and wife, Pearl, of Allentown; daughter, Rebecca R. Brodt and husband, Scott, of Nazareth; grandchildren, Jeremy Winkler of Lorton, Virginia, Benjamin Winkler of Wasilla, Alaska, Zachary Harmany of Madison, Wisconsin, Beth Arancibia of Catasaqua, Jacob Harmany of Allentown, and Andrew Brodt of Nazareth; great-grandchildren, Jonah and Owen Arancibia, and Luke Winkler; and sister, Esther Cooper of Lampasas, Texas. She was predeceased by a daughter, Anne E. Winkler; and a sister, Evelyn Bratt. Services:
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 3900 Mechanicsville Road, Whitehall. Burial will follow services in Cedar Hill Memorial Park.
