Richard Carls

Richard H. Carls, 78, of Fogelsville, PA, died Saturday, December 1, 2012, at St. Lukes Hospital & Health Network in Bethlehem, PA. Richard was the husband of Patricia (Keller), together they celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary this past October 7, 2012. Born in Wescosesville, PA he was the son of the late John and Arlene (Bieber) Carls. Richard was a Branch Manager for Meridian Bank Corp. for 36 years before retiring, serving at Coopersburg, College Park, South Mountain, and Allentown branches. After retiring he went back into banking for several years with E. Penn Bank as a Loan Officer at their Emmaus branch. He was a long time member of the former Seibert E. C. Church, Allentown, PA, where he served as their Treasurer and Board member for over 40 years. An active sportsman playing softball for many years with the church team as their catcher. He and his family also ran C & M Lawn service for 27 years serving many in the greater Allentown area. He also served his country as an Army Veteran. He was deeply devoted to his wife, family, and church. A kind and compassionate manto his friends and acquaintances, loved his only granddaughter, Makenna, with all his heart. His family and friends will remember Richard for his grand smile and for his giving without hesitation. Survivors: Surviving along with his wife, Patricia; arethree daughters, Gayle D. wife of Jeffrey Yastrop of Palmerton, PA, Diane L. wife of Steve Howell of Manassas, VA, Kristen B. Carls of Fogelsville, PA; a sister, Lina OBrien-West wife of George West of Allentown, PA; a brother, Theodore B. Carls & wife Deborah of Northville, MI; sister-in-law, Nancy Carls, Allentown, PA; granddaughter, Makenna Howell; four nieces; and five nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, William Carls. Services: Arrangements are being handled by Schisler Funeral Home, Inc., 2119 Washington Ave., Northampton, PA, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 4, 2012. Funeral service will be at Jordan United Church of Christ, 1837 Church Rd., Allentown, PA at 12 p.m., Wednesday, December 5, 2012. With calling hour, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. prior to the services in the church. Rev. Dr. David C. Smith will officiate the services. Interment will follow at Highland Park Cemetery in Allentown, PA.
