Richard H. Oplinger
Richard H. Oplinger, 84, of Allentown, died January 5, 2014, in the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Twp. He was the husband of Nancy (Muth) Oplinger. They were married for 60 years in March. Richard was employed most of his life by Exxon Chemical as an engineer. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Elwood and Anna Florence (Manbeck) Oplinger. He was a member of Christ E.C. Church, Allentown. Richard spent his spare time working in the church. He could always be found fixing something at the church, whether it was working on a roof or resealing a parking lot. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. Survivors: Wife; daughters, Linda Ayala and Carol Hurley; and a brother, Ervin Oplinger. He was preceded in death by a sister, Florence Baily, who passed away in 1984. Services: Memorial service will be held on Friday, January 10, 2014, at 10 a.m., in the J. S. Burkholder Funeral Home, 16th and Hamilton Sts., Allentown. A visitation will be held on Friday, from 9 to 10 a.m., at the funeral home.
