Roland L. Sigal, 88, of Allentown, died on Friday, January 10, 2014 in Sacred Heart Hospital, Allentown. His wife, Doris C. (Charkow) Sigal died on May 19, 2011. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Phillip and Nancy L. (Dogulov) Sigal. He was a member of Temple Beth El and was a Lt. Commander in the U.S. Navy
during World War II
. He earned his Masters Degree from NYU, received his Bachelors Degree from Lehigh University, and was granted his Honorary Doctorate from Cedar Crest College. Roland was the founder and CEO of Apparel Affiliates, which was the parent company of several womens clothing brands including Ladybug, Corner House and Paraphernalia. Roland was very active in the community he lived in including his service to Sacred Heart Hospital where he served on Boards at the Hospital, Sacred Heart HealthCare System and Sacred Heart Foundation since 1978. He was a former Chairperson of Sacred Heart Hospital and was an Honorary Director of the Sacred Heart HealthCare System since 1993. As a result of his dedication of time and resources to the hospital, the Sigal Center for Family HealthCare was built by the hospital and opened in 1999, and now serves more than 40 thousand patients. Roland also served as a Chairperson for the group formerly known as the L.V. Association for Retarded Children form 67 to 72, and was a Trustee at Cedar Crest College and the Lehigh Valley Historical Society. Survivors:
Daughters, Phyllis Carlin and her husband Charles, and their daughters, Natalie and Laura, Leslie Javorek and her husband Donald, and their son Robert, and Marcie Friedman and her husband Steve, and their children Eric and Andrew. Services:
