Rowland Unangst

Rowland E. Unangst
Rowland E. Bud Unangst, 88 years, and a longtime resident of Catasauqua, passed away peacefully early Monday morning, February 11, 2013. Born in Allentown, to the late Edwin and Carrie (Woodring) Unangst, he was the husband of Lillian E. (DeLong) Unangst for 64 years since their marriage on November 6, 1948. Bud was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ Howertown. A 1942 graduate of Allentown High School, he proudly served in the US Army during WWII in Guam and throughout the South Pacific, and was honored with three Bronze stars for his bravery. A dedicated Optician, he worked for Linden Optical for over 47 years until retiring. Bud was a life member of the Fearless Fire Co., and was a member of the former VFW in Catasauqua. Survivors: Beside his wife, Lillian, are daughter, Barbara A. Hoderman and her husband Kevin of Whitehall, along with their family. He was predeceased by sisters, Emma Hollenbach, Irene Beltz; along with brothers, Paul and Arthur Unangst. Services: Rev. William A. Seaman will officiate services at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2013 in the Church, 22 Atlas Rd., Northampton, PA 18067. A calling hour will begin at 10 a.m. Interment will be private. The Gilbert Funeral Home of Whitehall is honored to handle his arrangements. Contributions: Are suggested to St. Johns UCC Howertown at the address listed above.
