Ruth S. Hendershot
Ruth S. Hendershot, 90, of Plainfield Township, passed away Thursday, February 21, 2013, at Chandler Estates. Born in Pen Argyl, October 6, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Carrie (Wills) Jeffery. Prior to retiring, Ruth was employed as a school secretary for the Pen Argyl Area School District at the Plainfield Elementary School. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and attended Sunday school. She was also a member of Shutanka Chapter 202, Order of Eastern Star, Pen Argyl. She and her late husband Warren enjoyed camping and where members of the NCHA and helped to form the local chapter know as the Skeeters and Scooters. She also sang in the Senior Chorus at the Blue Valley Senior Citizens Center and during World War II was a plane spotter and was a 1940 graduate of Pen Argyl High SchoolRuth was the wife of the late Warren D. Hendershot who passed away August 31, 2011 and William L. Hendershot who passed away while serving during World War II, November 1944. Survivors:
Ruth is survived by two sons, William C. Hendershot and his wife, Donna, of Bushkill Township and Bruce D. Hendershot and his wife, Sue, of Fogelsville; a daughter, Beverly A. Keiper and her husband, Ronald C., of Lake Butler, FL; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husbands, Warren and William, two brothers, Charles and Walter Jeffery preceded her in death. Services:
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at 11 a.m., at Grace Untied Methodist Church, 404 E. Mountain Ave., Pen Argyl. There will be calling hours Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. with Eastern Star services at 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Pen Argyl.
