Ruth S. Koder, 92, passed away at Westminster Village on Tuesday, December 3, 2013. She was born in Allentown on November 6, 1921, the daughter of J. Rudolph and May (Smith) Neubauer. She was the loving and devoted wife of George B. Koder, who passed away on June 4, 2013. Ruth was a graduate of Allentown High School in 1937, where she was active in sports, especially the girls basketball teams. Although she worked in various occupations, her main interest had been in music. She was a piano teacher for many years, at times having as many as 30 students. She was a lifelong member of St. Josephs Evangelical Lutheran Church where she served for most of her adult life as assistant organist, organist, choir director, and director of music. She sang in the church choir and was active in various organizations of church work such as Church School teacher, member of the Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, and various committees. Survivors: Brother, Robert Neubauer and his wife, Helen, of Whitehall; niece; and nephews. Services: 11 a.m., Friday, December 6, 2013, St. Josephs Evangelical Lutheran Church, 41 South Carlisle St., Allentown. Burial at Arlington Memorial Park, Whitehall. A calling hour will begin at 10 a.m. in the church. Trexler Funeral Home, Allentown is in charge of arrangements.
