Ruth M. (Sell) Smoyer, 80, of New Tripoli, died Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Cedar Crest, Salisbury Township. She was the wife of Reuben E. Smoyer. The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last November 22. Born in Heidelberg Township, March 6, 1932, Ruth was the daughter of the late Fred N. and Florence (Bittner) Sell. She was a member of the Lutheran congregation of Heidelberg Union Church, Slatington, where she was a member of the Altar Guild, embroidering baptism cloths for many years. For the last 24 years, Ruth was known as the Purse Lady, making purses to be sold at craft shows. She was a member of the Ontelaunee Auto Club. Ruth will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Survivors: In addition to her husband, Reuben; children, Susan R. Fatzinger and her husband, Allen, of New Tripoli, Scott L. Smoyer and his wife, Brenda, of New Tripoli, Tania A. Rex and her husband, Michael, of Duke Center, McKean County; brother, Stewart J. Sell of Walnutport; sister, Shirley A. Smith and her husband, Paul, of Germansville; six grandchildren; three great-grandsons. Predeceased by four brothers. Services: Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 6, 2012 in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville with the Rev. David L. Hess officiating. Family and friends may pay their respects from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Heidelberg Union Cemetery, Slatington.
