Samuel T. Garris, 63, of Whitehall, cherished and loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed from this life to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 15, 2012. Born in Alexandria, Virginia, he was the son of the late Irene Mae (Ridgeway) and Samuel Everette Garris. Samuel was a man of strong faith in God, dedicated employee of Giant Foods for 23 years, a fired-up Redskins fan, Civil War expert historian, enjoyed the role of chef with his wife, lover of music, and collector of angels and cherubs. He leaves a legacy of love for his family and friends. Survivors: Wife, Carol Janis Chase Garris; daughter, Noelle Chase Compos, and husband, Stephen, of Bethlehem; precious joy of his life, grandson, Baby Stephen Constantine Compos IV; siblings, Joyce Ann Tanis of Orlando, FL and Pat Garris in Virginia, Ricky Garris of Fairfax, VA. Services: 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 19 in the Pearson Funeral Home, 1901 Linden St., Bethlehem, with burial in Bethlehem Memorial Park. Family and friends may call 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., Wednesday. Contributions: Contributions in the name of the one he cherished the most, Stephen C. Compos IV, for his future education.
