Willard F. George, Jr.
Willard F. George, Jr., 92 of 5th Street Palmerton, died on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, at Blue Mountain Health Systems, Palmerton Campus. He was the husband of Mrs. Anna (Smida) George celebrating 72 years of marriage last November. Born in Palmerton, he was a son of the late Willard F., Sr. and Mary (Kleintop) George. Willard worked as a machinist for the former Bethlehem Steel Corp., 42 years, retiring in 1983. He was a member of Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Palmerton. Willard was a 1940 graduate of the Palmerton High School, and Bethlehem Technical School. A US Navy Veteran of WWII, he participated in the European Theatre, and achieved rank of Radarman 2/c. Willard was a member of the American Legion, Palmerton Post, and a former Boy Scout Leader Troop #42, Palmerton. Survivors: Wife; daughter, Ann Louise George, wife of Marcel Poullot of Montreal, Canada; son, Douglas J. and wife Phe Fen of Houston, TX; five grandchildren, Sarah, Audrey and Mark (twins), Nicolas, and Philippe; great-grandson, Ariston. He was predeceased by brother, Donald. Services: 11 a.m., Friday, Campton Funeral Home, 525 Delaware Avenue, Palmerton, PA 18071. Call, 7-8:30 p.m., Thursday and 10-11 a.m., Friday in funeral home.
