William R. Ballek
William R. Ballek, 79, of East Allen Township died suddenly on Saturday in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. Bill and his wife, Joan (Fehr), celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary last April. Born in Bethlehem he was the son of the late Joseph and Fani (Zsisko) Ballek. He was the youngest of eight children. Bill proudly served with the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict
. Bill Graduated from Lafayette College in 1962. He was active with the church serving on the Church Council of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church of Schoenersville and was currently a member of St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bath, PA. He was employed by the Bethlehem Steel Company for 42 years in various positions. He was a superintendent of the Nos. 2 and 8 Machine Shop, was an engineer in the Drop Forge, graduated from the Loop Program at the steel and eventually retired in 1994 as the Superintendent of the Beth/Forge. Bill was very athletic and served as a Ski Patroler for Camelback Mountain Ski Resort for over 50 years. He had been inducted in the Pennsylvania Snow Sports Hall of Fame in 2008. He will be dearly missed by all the people he met. Survivors:
He is survived by his wife, Joan at home; his daughters, Susan of Tannersville, PA and Lisa of Good Shepherd, Bethlehem; and several nieces and nephews and great-nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Steve, Joseph, Alex, Charles and Louis; and his sisters, Bertha Sever and Ethel Chapman. Services:
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church of Schoenersville. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, 6 to 9 p.m. at the Connell Funeral Home, 245 East Broad St., Bethlehem.
