William James Cope
William James Cope, 93, formerly of 1333 Shelbourne Dr., Bethlehem, a current resident of Luther Crest Retirement Community, South Whitehall Twp., died December 20, 2013 in the VNA Hospice House of St. Lukes, Bethlehem. He was the husband of Frieda (Keglovitz) Cope. They were married for 74 years in October. William spent his entire career in the trucking industry. He was President and owner of Freys Motor Express in Phillipsburg, NJ. Born in Akron, OH, he was the son of the late William P. and Martha (Schroth) Cope. He was an U.S. Army Veteran of WWII. He was active in many trucking industry professional organizations. He was a past President of the Lehigh Valley Traffic Club and the Delta Nu Alpha Fraternity, and a life member of the Sertoma Club. A dedicated member of Hope United Church of Christ, Allentown, he served on numerous boards and committees of the church. Survivors: Son: James M. Cope and his wife Sandra of Chocowinity, NC; brother: Edward Cope of Allentown; grandchildren: Donna wife of Sydney Eltringham III of Dublin, OH, Catherine wife of Stephen Clemens of Larchmont, NY and Michael Cope of Ardmore, PA; and great-grandchildren: Tyler and Alex Eltringham and Emily and Ashley Clemens. Services: Memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 10 a.m. in the J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home, 16th and Hamilton Sts., Allentown.
