William Harding
William Congdon Harding, 87, of Country Meadows, Bethlehem Twp., formerly of Lower Saucon Twp., PA & Buffalo, NY, died Friday, August 16, 2013 at the St. Lukes Hospital, Fountain Hill. He is the husband of the late Irene (Becker) Harding who died July 26, 2011. Born in Buffalo, NY on February 7, 1926 to the late Harold C. and Anna (Congdon) Harding. He served our country faithfully in the US Navy during WWII. Bill was an Electrical Engineer and Utilities Rate Specialist at the former Bethlehem Steel from 1953 retiring after 43 years of service. He is a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Bethlehem, Past Treasurer for 16 years of the Church and active in its Soup Kitchen Ministry. He was a graduate of Cornell University earning an MS in Electrical Engineering, Class of 1953; an avid collector of Model Railroad Trains and avid photographer; a life member of IEEE; and Past Chairman of the ELCON State Relations and Communications Committee 1991 - 1992. Survivors: Loving children: James Grant and his wife Sandra Fay of Macungie, Joanne Mary wife of David Charles Gulya of Catasauqua, Elizabeth Irene Harding wife of Keith Merritt OConnell of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren: Kendell, Jennifer, Brandon, Wendy; great-grandchildren: Max, Vivian, Kira. Predeceased by his brother Frank. Services: Family and friends are invited to call 4-7 p.m. Friday, August 23, 2013 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc. 326 Main Street - Hellertown. Memorial Eucharist Service at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Church, 44 East Market St. Bethlehem. Private Interment at Forest Lawn, Buffalo, NY.
