The Local Spotlight is a unique way for you to honor and remember someone who has died. Feature a friend or family member, pay tribute to a teacher or co-worker… anyone can have a moment in the spotlight.

The Local Spotlight, located prominently on the newspaper’s obituaries home page, will rotate continuously through all featured obituaries, with obituaries appearing in order of purchase. Up to ten obituaries can be featured per calendar day. When you add someone to the Local Spotlight, both the obituary and Guest Book (if any) will be accessible.

Each order places the obituary in the Local Spotlight for up to two calendar days - 12:00 midnight to 11:59 p.m., local time (in the newspaper's time zone). If you'd like the obituary featured for more than two days, please place a separate order for the additional days you would like the obituary to appear. There is no limit to the number of days an obituary can be featured in the Local Spotlight.

If you place your order before 12:00 noon local time, the obituary can be included in the current day's Local Spotlight. It just takes 15 minutes after your order is submitted for the page to refresh and the obituary to appear. If it's past 12:00 noon when you make your purchase, please select a future date (the obituary will appear beginning at 12:00 midnight on the day you choose).

When an obituary doesn't include a photo, we will offer you a selection of three images: a candle, a flower, or an American flag. The image you choose will appear with the obituary in the Local Spotlight.

You can select any available days during the current month or the coming month.

An obituary can be featured on any available day during this month or next. If a date on the calendar is marked 'unavailable,' any of the following may apply:

• The daily maximum number of featured obituaries has been reached (no more than 10 obituaries can be featured on any given day).
• We have already received an order for your selected obituary and date (an obituary can be featured only once per day).
• It is after 12:00 p.m. local time (an obituary can be featured on the same day you place your order if purchasing before noon; after 12:00 p.m. local time, please select a future date).
• The date you wish to select is in the past.

Yes, an obituary with an expired Guest Book can be featured in the Spotlight. While the obituary is appearing in the Spotlight, the Guest Book – including all messages and photos – will be restored online, and visitors will be able to sign the Guest Book, leave new messages, and upload additional photos.

When you submit your order, we will send you an email receipt confirming your purchase. Your email address is required for confirmation. We will not use your email address for marketing purposes.

The cost is $40.00 for up to two days; this is a one-time fee.
