Susan Hacker Obituary

"> Susan D. Hacker
Susan Diane (Heckman) Hacker, 51, of Allentown, died suddenly and unexpectedly on Monday, January 5, 2009, at Lehigh Valley Hospital after collapsing at home. Born October 7, 1957, she was the beautiful and loving wife of William C. Hacker. They celebrated their 24th wedding anniversary on November 24. She was the daughter of Daniel and Mildred Heckman of Orefield and the daughter-in-law of William and Barbara Hacker and Betty Mae and Joseph Pasternak. She was a devoted mother to her two children, Brian William Hacker and Alison Marie Hacker currently attending Penn State University. A graduate of Parkland High School, she was the Accounting and Administrative Coordinator for Arbor Insurance Company, Allentown for 14 years. Previously, she was the secretary/bookkeeper for Singer-Hacker Realtors and Bilron Construction Company. She was a beautiful, self-less, friend to all, devoted wife, daughter and sister who loved to read, take walks, master puzzles and play her favorite card game, Escalera, with her sisters and nieces. She was proud of her beautifully decorated home and loved to share it with her family and friends. One of her favorite things to do, from the kindness of her heart, was to organize many tailgate events at Penn State University, with her husband and children sometimes providing food and fun for as many as fifty people. She wanted her children to have many special memories from their days at State College. She was a take charge person and volunteered in many community church and school functions. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and Lehigh Country Club. Survivors: In addition to her husband, children and parents, she will be missed terribly by her many friends and especially by her three sisters, Cathy Ashline and her husband Paul of Allentown, Nancy Goldstein and her husband Lee of Orefield, Linda Heckman and her husband Craig of Powell, Ohio; sisters-in-law Suzanne Fry and her husband Terry of Hilton Head, S.C., Julia Aceto and her husband Mark of Wayne, Holly Boyce and her husband Barry of Spartanburg, S.C. She is also survived by 12 nieces and nephews who adored Aunt Susie. Services: A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 10, at 10:30 a.m. in Christ Lutheran Church, 1245 Hamilton St., Allentown. Calling hours will be held 7-8:30 p.m. Friday, January 9, from at the J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home, 16th and Hamilton Streets, Allentown. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Susans memory to the Phoebe Home Inc. 1925 Turner St. Allentown, PA 18104, or to the Lehigh County Historical Society, Lehigh Valley Heritage Museum, 432 W. Walnut St, Allentown, PA 18102.

Dear Bill,
Almost seven years ago I met Sue and You. Sue made it feel as though we've known each other a lifetime. Sue was always very caring, loving and supportive, always had a smile on her face and always laughing. Sue was a terrific co-worker and a great friend. Although Sue was the President's wife, she never held that over us, she was one of us! Sue was a true inspiration to all of us at Arbor Ins Group. I am honored to have played a part in Sue's life and thank God for allowing me the brief time we had together. I know Sue will be watching over us and guiding us along the way. Sue will remain in my heart forever. Berta

Susan's memorial service today was one that I will always remember. I believe that she was touched by the love and togetherness that we all witnessed today; she would have wanted nothing more. What an incredible legacy she has left through you, your children, your family and your friends. All whom she has touched will pass forward her love and smiles.

You're in my and Jami's prayers.

Dear Family,
We just heard about Susan's passing and wanted to let you know how sad we were . She was such a wonderful woman, always smiling. When we first came to the Lehigh Valley almost 30 years ago, she was one of the first people we got to know. She was always so sweet and knew the art of making people feel welcome. Although we have not seen her much these past few years, when we did meet it was like we talked every day. She was so proud of her family, home, sisters- it was lovely to hear her tales.
Please accept our sincere sympathy.

Dear Bill and Family,
Words can't adequately express our sympathy for you. Sue was always a joy to be around at work...positive...smiling...and genuinely kind. Bill, you and Sue's love for one another have always served as a testimony for the joys of marriage. Brian and Ali...you are certainly your parent's pride and joy...their unconditional love for you has always been very visible. As grieving takes it's own path for each of you...may it at the appropriate time be replaced with the celebration of your wife's and mother's life. And never lose sight of our ultimate truth...which is that she has received the gift of eternity and peace in our Father's kingdom. God Bless.

Dear Hackers and Heckmans,
I am so very sorry for your loss of one of the most amazing women I have ever know. I was privileged and honored to know Sue from high school along with her sister Kathy. I wish there was a way I could turn back the clock to give all of you more time with her. She was the most loving and caring person and I was proud to call her my friend. There are no words to take away the pain you are feeling right now. The only thing you can do is cherish all the moments you spent with her and hold those memories close. For memories are something no one can take away. You will all remain in my prayers. She may be gone from this earth but will always remain in the hearts and minds of the people she touched. You now how a very special angel to watch over all of you.

Dear Bill, Brian and Alison,
I am so sad to hear this. Your beautiful wife and mother was a wonderful person. And we all knew she was the Best Mom and Wife. She adored you all and mentioned how proud she was of her kids. Alyson and Brittany played softball together years ago at Alton Park and Sue was such a proud fan of her daughter and all the kids playing. She had such a beaming smile. Alison and Brian, your Mom bragged about you guys all the time. I saw her at my bank many times over the last few years or saw her taking her walks. She was such a happy lady, because she had a wonderful family life. She adored you all. Keep all the beautiful memories and "her smile" in your hearts and think of her everyday and talk to her. She will always be with you....God Bless and Much Love to you.....Sincerely and With Love, Deana, Brittany and Billy Frederick

Dear Dan And Millie,
I am so upset for you and the family. I had to keep reading it over and over, thinking I was wrong. I have known Susan since our girls played softball together for years. I will vouch for how lovely a woman she was. She was one of those moms who smiled ALL the time and was pleasant to EVERYONE..And she beamed with pride watching Ally play ball. And supported her kids beyond what some mothers would be willing to do. I am so heartbroken that she has left us so early in life,ITS NOT FAIR!!!!!! Ive seen her at the bank many times too,so bubbly and full of life. I always wished I had as much energy as her. The kids and Bill must be so beside themselves. I cannot stop crying for you all..My heart goes out to you all. And please know that I LOVE YOU..God BLess you all..I am so sorry you lost your beautiful daughter...
