Jean M. Filchner, 80, formerly of Bath and East Allen Township, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at the Inpatient Hospice of Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. She was the wife of the late Clifford N. Filchner, with whom she shared 37 years of marriage prior to his death in 1991. Born in Moore Township on October 5, 1933, she was a daughter of the late Harry F. and Stella (Fehnel) Edelman. Jean was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed bingo, country music, dining out, and she was an avid Phillies fan. Survivors: She is survived by her loving children; sons, Dennis Filchner of Slatington, Wayne Filchner and his companion, Sandy Valo, of Moore Township, and Brian Filchner and his wife, Wendy, of Walnutport; daughter, Brenda Marhefka and her companion, Gary Ciena, of Nazareth; three grandchildren, Denise, Megan, and Lauren; a brother, Robert Edelman; four sisters, Pauline Lahr, Mary Silfies, Shirley Laubach and her husband, Donald, and Eva Seier and her husband, John; along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to her late husband, Clifford; she was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Filchner, in 1992; as well as six brothers; and five sisters. Services: Will be held on Monday, January 13, 2014, at 11 a.m., in the George G. Bensing Funeral Home, Inc., 2165 Community Drive, Route 946, Village of Moorestown-Bath, PA 18014. Friends and relatives are invited to call on Monday morning from 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Hope Cemetery, Hecktown.
