To the Frederick family,
I'm so sorry to hear of Mary's passing. I knew her through coaching at Salisbury and from my daughter's field hockey at S.L. She was a wonderful lady.

On behalf of the COB Team, we wish to extend our deepest sympathies to Mary's family. Mary was a part of the Team since the beginning and her absence will be felt deeply. She was a confident and strong person and a valued member of the Team who had a deep commitment to COB. We will all miss her immensely.

When I was young, she was Aunt Mary, my mother's sister. As an adult, she was just Mary, my friend.
Our relationship had a rocky start. Born in 1933, Mary had a 6- year run as the youngest member of the Young family, and all the attention that went with it. That changed when I arrived in 1939 as the first Young grandchild. I think Mary hated me. She must have gotten over it, though, because when I started school, she, also going to school, always watched over me at the bus stop. She taught me how to play baseball when I was 8, a sport that was my passion for the next 10 years.
Mary always spoke her mind. While she would do anything for me, she was not a doting aunt; I probably caught as much hell from her as from my mother.
After I moved to California in 1961, our relationship continued mostly through insulting birthday cards, I calling her old, and she reminding me that I was only 6 years younger. On the rare times that we saw each other, I think Mary enjoyed seeing my wife, Linda, more than me, as the two of them had developed a close friendship.
She was one-of-a-kind, I will miss her, and am proud to say I was her nephew.

I got to know Mary when she came in to work for SLSD as a bus driver. Unbeknownst to me she was a distant relative of my husband, but before I knew that she impressed me as a very out spoken and matter of fact person. She was a strong woman who preserved the challenge of breast cancer and a beat it. After I left the bus co.and worked at the SL middle school she always would stop the bus after loading up the middle school students if I was out directing traffic would open the window and extend her hand and ask how I and Richard were doing. I will truly miss her.

Mary was our #1 fan. She always lifted our heads if we lost and encouraged us to be even better when we won. Bus rides with her were the best part of having away games. She will forever be in our hearts and all those that knew her. Thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends. She will be very missed

Our thoughts and our prayers to you all! Mary was an icon of Southern Lehigh sports. She gave her time, her heart and her love to all who met her and she truly cared about every child, athlete, or coach who rode her bus. She took pride in her family and served her church. We are so blessed to have known her and called her "friend". She will be forever in our hearts and greatly missed!
