Rollin B. Foster, 95, of Bethlehem died Monday, May 21 at Kirkland Village. Born on July 14, 1916 in Ardmore PA, he was the youngest of eleven children of the late Herbert and Mary Foster. Rollin was a civil engineering graduate of The University of Pennsylvania and retired in 1975 from the fabricated steel division of The Bethlehem Steel Corporation after 35 years of service. Rollin was proud of the many bridges and buildings to which he contributed in either the design, erection or pricing. Rollin was preceded in death by his wife Elin O. Foster. Rollin was an active member of Central Moravian Church for many years with leadership roles as trustee and sacricin. In his latter years, Rollin was an enthusiastic gardener, avid golfer and bicyclist and serious student of religion and evolution. Rollin was a gifted athlete and tracked his bicycle mileage as he peddled the equivalent of around the world and then to the moon and back. On his 80th birthday, he bicycled 100 miles. He was a member of the University of Penn crew and an exceptional rower, holding several world first positions in his senior age bracket on the Concept2 Rowing Machine on which he recorded 8 million meters. Survivors: He will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Susan Zachary and her husband Jim of Nazareth; his son, Wayne Foster and his wife Regina of Bethlehem; and his four grandchildren, Sigbrit Bakke and her husband Michael of Spring Branch, TX, Kristin Gafford and her husband Eddie of Summerfield, NC, Laura Zachary of Three Bridges NJ , and Holly Zachary and her husband Thomas Hyland of North Wales, PA; along with seven beloved great grandchildren, Caroline, Kristopher, and Cadee Gafford and Michael Jr, James, Johnathan and Charles Bakke. Services: A private graveside service will be held at the Nisky Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Snyder-Hinkle & Lunsford Funeral Home, Bethlehem.
