Billy Ray Henderson
Billy Ray Henderson, 81, of Trexlertown, PA, returned to the immediate presence of his Lord a few days before his 82nd birthday. He was the son of the late Raymond and Opal (Baird) Henderson. Born June 23, 1931, in Tennessee, Bill moved with his family to Virginia and then to Pennsylvania. After graduating from Eddystone High School in 1949, Bill served a four-year term in the United States Air Force. He served in the Philippines during the Korean Conflict. After his time in the service, he moved to Allentown to work at the Ches-Penn Donut Shop. When the donut shop closed, Bill worked for General Electric small appliance division until it closed, at which time he retired. Bill spent many years enjoying square dancing in Lehigh Valley square dance clubs. He was a member of the NRA. He was an avid bowler, bowling on many teams throughout the years. Bill was a member of St. Pauls UCC Church of Trexlertown. He is a former member of Coopersburg Moravian Church. Survivors: Bill had two children, Cecilia Biondi (of Egg Harbor Township, NJ) and Billy Ray, Jr. (of Wilmington, DE) by his first wife, the late Madeline McKniff; and one daughter, Dina, wife of Adam Kirshbaum of St. Johns, FL, with his second wife, Delores (Bertoni), who preceded him in death in 1984. In addition to his children, Bill is survived by a sister, Mary Kathryn, wife of John Adamson, Jr. of Pocono Lake, PA; and a brother, Jerry, husband of Suzanne; grandson, Ted Biondi; granddaughters, Shannon Henderson and Emily Kirshbaum. He also is survived by great-grandchildren; nieces; and nephews. Also surviving is his longtime friend, Dorothy VanderMass. Bill will be greatly missed by all that knew him. Services: 1 p.m., Friday in the Stephens Funeral Home Inc., 1335-37 Linden St., Allentown. Call noon to 1 p.m. in the funeral home.
