Calliope Englesson, 87 of Bethlehem died on August 8, 2013 at home surrounded by her family. The wife of Emanuel Englesson, they were married 63 years on January 28th. Known as Popy to the Greek American community and Callie to others, she was born in Bethlehem on February 2, 1926 daughter of the late John and Despina (Hoimes) Bournias. Callie worked at WLVT TV Channel 39 as the office manager and Teleguide Editor for 25 years. She was a creative writer, artist, baker and seamstress. She was a pillar in the Greek American community and often was invited to speak about the Greek community in Bethlehem. She was a vibrant, energetic woman who would light up a room with her presence. She was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Bethlehem and served as Past District governor of the Daughters of Penelope, Power District #4. She was a life member of Paeon Chapter #253 in Bethlehem. Survivors: Husband, Emanuel; son, Atty. Nicholas E. Englesson of Bethlehem; daughters, Despene E. Coplin,wife of William Coplin of Palo Alto, CA and Sandy E. Baratta, wife of Joseph E. Baratta of Incline Village, NV; three grandchildren, Marcus Coplin, Kelsey Coplin and Sarina Baratta; sister, Mary Englezos of Bethlehem; nephew, Nicholas Nichols (Margie); nieces, Sandi Gallagher (Kevin), Cathy Knasiak (Drew) and Mary McAdoo (Edward); grandnieces and nephews Callie McAdoo, Samuel McAdoo and Alaina Gallagher. Services: There will be a viewing Saturday, August 10, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 1607 W. Union Blvd., Bethlehem. Funeral Service at 11 a.m. also at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Funeral arrangements are by the John F. Herron Funeral Home, 458 Center at Market Street, Bethlehem.
