Calvin Neikam Jr. Obituary
Calvin E. Neikam, Jr., of Allentown, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, July 14, 2013 in the L.V. Hospital, Salisbury Twp. He was the husband of Rose Marie (Ziara) Neikam. They would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in September. Born in Hazleton, he was the son of the late Emma (Danker) and Calvin E. Neikam, Sr. Calvin was a graduate of Allentown H.S., Class of 1950 and was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a foreman with the Lehigh County Authority for many years before retiring in 1995. Mr. Neikam was a member of Faith Church in Trexlertown, where he was involved with Seniors in Action. Calvin was a co-founder and member of the Gold Medal Pinochle Club for over 50 years. He played minor league baseball in the North Atlantic Baseball League. Mr. Neikam was a former vice-president of the West End Youth Center, where he coached knee-hi and American Legion baseball. Calvin was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was a dedicated Christian and an exemplary role model to all who knew him. Survivors: Wife, Rose Marie of Allentown; daughter, Michele M. Sabo and her husband Lewis T. of Allentown, and their children, Andrew and his wife Heather, Timothy, Joseph; daughter, JoAnn Hill and her husband Alan R. of Germansville, and their children, Allison and her husband Chad Davis, Jessica, Natalie; son, Steven M. and his wife Diane M. of Allentown, and their children, Steven, Jr., Calli, Jonathan; son, Barry L. and his wife Joann M. of Allentown, and their children, Alexandra, Bradley; great-grandchildren, Calvin, Abigail, Aston, Casey; sisters, Maryland Kucharczuk, Geraldine Peifley, Joan Dreisbach, all of Allentown. Calvin was predeceased by his half-sister, Doris Veranda. Services: 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Faith Church, 6528 Hamilton Blvd., Allentown, 18106. Call 9 to 10:30 a.m., Wednesday in the church.
