Charles E. Arnold, 97, of Allentown, died October 9, 2012 in Above and Beyond. He was the husband of Ruth R. (Nonnemaker) Arnold, with whom he celebrated 72 years of marriage on Nov. 25, 2011. Born in Allentown, he was the son of Robert and Elsie (McHenry) Arnold. He was a backhoe operator for the former Lehigh Burial Service for 41 years, retiring in 1986. Later he worked part-time in the mailroom at AT&T. He honorably served his country in the Army during WWII, earning a purple heart. He was a member of Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church and played the banjo in various orchestras. Survivors: Wife, Ruth Arnold and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, George D. Arnold. Services: Graveside Services with military honors Friday, October 10, 2012 at 11 a.m. in Western Salisbury Cemetery. Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus is handling arrangements.
