Earl R. Shelly, 86, of Bethlehem, died Thursday September 15, 2011. Born in Bethlehem on November 15, 1924, he was the son of the late Frederick and Anna (Skelly) Shelly. He was the husband of the late Dorothy M. (Gaither) Shelly. He was employed by the PB&NE Railroad for forty years and retired as an engineer in 1987. He was a war veteran of the Army having served during WWII, life member of the Spring Valley Sportsman Club, member of the Hellertown VFW, played baseball for the Bingen Dukes, and a parishioner of the Assumption BVM Church, Bethlehem. Survivors: He will be lovingly remembered by his sons, Frederick of Albuquerque, NM, Raymond and wife Marjorie, Alan and wife Cynthia, Douglas, and John all of Bethlehem; grandchildren, Daniel, Brendan, Bronson, and Christopher Shelly, and Molly Davis; great grandchildren, Juliana, and Mark Shelly, Ayden, Brady, and Noah Davis. He was preceded in death by his brother, Harold; and great grandson, Elijah Shelly. Services: Arrangements have been entrusted to Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St. Bethlehem, where viewing hours will be held on Wednesday September 21st from 7 to 9 p.m. and again on Thursday from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. Services will begin in the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. on Thursday followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in the Assumption BVM Church, 4101 Old Bethlehem Pk. Bethlehem. Interment will be in Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem. Contributions: Memorial contributions may be made to the Spring Valley Sportsman Club or the VNA of St. Lukes, 1510 Valley Center Parkway, Suite 200, Bethlehem, PA 18017.Offer condolences online at www.connellfuneral.com
