Frank Kumernitsky Obituary
Frank Kumernitsky, 86, of Danielsville, PA, died Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Muhlenberg Campus, Bethlehem, PA. He was the husband of Nancy Lee (Schisler); they celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary this past May 5, 2012. Born in Hokendauqua, PA, He was the son of the late Frank and Julia (Ferkovitch) Kumernitsky. He served his country as a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during WWII from 1944 till the end of the War. He was then active Air Force Reserves till 1966, recalled during the Korea Conflict and the Cuban Missile Crises. He was a member of Bath American Legion Post #0470; and Whitehall V.F.W. Post #7293. He was also a member of the Air Transport Command Association. After WWII, Frank started in construction, eventually becoming Project Manager / Construction Supervisor. During his career he was responsible for putting up over 1600 homes throughout NE PA via housing developments and single family on-your-lot custom homes for various home construction companies. Before his retirement in 1995 he built strip malls, townhouses, apartment complexes and single family homes in northern NJ. He was an airplane and motorcycle enthusiast and race car fan throughout his life. Upon retiring he and his wife traveled the United States, visiting family and touring many Air Force Museums and NASCAR Race Tracks. He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Moorestown, PA. Survivors: He is survived by his wife Nancy Lee and their five children - Wayne L. Chip and wife Sandra of Bath; Katharine L. wife of Paul Grube of Bath; Donna L. wife of Dr. Barry Sheridan, (Col. U.S. Army, Ret.) of San Antonio, TX; Jean L. of Danielsville; Frank L. and wife Suzanne of Danielsville; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Also two sisters and a brother - Mrs. Julia Biondo of Valley Stream, NY; Mary, wife of Alfred Fritzinger of Whitehall; Anthony Kumernitsky and wife Mabel of Whitehall and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers; John and Michael, two sisters; Katherine and Anna, and one great-granddaughter. Services: Calling hours will be held Thursday December 6, 2012, 7-8:30 p.m. and Friday December 7, 2012, 10-11 a.m. at the Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Avenue, Northampton, PA. 18067. Services are scheduled for 11am Friday December 7th at the Schisler Funeral Home. Following the service, Interment with Military Honors will be at Fairview Cemetery, Northampton, PA. Contributions: In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Franks name to the Holy Cross Lutheran Church Memorial Fund C/O the funeral home.
