Rev. Fred P. Knieriem
The Reverend Fred P. Knieriem, 88, of Allentown, died Monday, May 13, 2013 at Inpatient Hospice Unit at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. He is the husband of the late Dolores Martha (Wasser) Knieriem, who died January 31, 1991. Born in Tamaqua on October 26, 1924 to the late Frederick Grover and Martha Marie (Witzel) Knieriem. Rev. Knieriem currently worshiped at Presbyterian Church (USA) of Catasauqua. He is a 1942 Graduate of Tamaqua High School; AB in 1945 at Ursinus College, Collegeville; BD in 1947 at Lancaster Theological Seminary, Lancaster; STM in 1949 at Harvard Divinity School, Cambridge, Mass; Graduate Study in 1953-56 from Union Theological Seminary, NY, NY; Auditor, 1992-present at Moravian Theological Seminary, Bethlehem; Nov. 20, 1949, ordained to Ministry of the Evangelical & Reformed Church by Synod of Reading; 1949-51, Pastor of Christ E&R Church, Allentown; 1951-1952, Assistant Pastor, Zion E&R Church, South Bend, IN; 1952 - 53, Minister of E&R Congregational Students, Penn State University, State College; 1953 - 56, Executive Secretary, Student Christian Movement of Queens & Nassau Counties, Long Island, NY; 1956 - 61, Director of Christian Education, South Presbyterian Church, Dobbs Ferry, NY; April 21, 1959, Received into Presbytery of Westchester (later Hudson River); 1961 - 63, Pastor, First United Presbyterian Church, Marlbough, NY; 1963 - 91, Pastor Gilead Presbyterian Church (USA), Carmel, NY; May 18, 1997, Installed as Pastor Emeritus; Honorably Retired: August 31, 1991; Transferred to Lehigh Presbytery: November 26, 1991. Survivors: Loving daughter, Martha Lynn wife of Gregory March of Montvale, NJ; and a granddaughter, Victoria Ann; adoring sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends. Services: A Celebration of Reverend Knieriems Life will be at 11 a.m., on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at the Presbyterian Church of Catasauqua, 210 Pine Street, Catasauqua, PA 18032. Interment at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Tamaqua PA at the convenience of the family.
