Irwin Y. Beck
Irwin Y. Beck, 88, of Allentown, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Friday, December 21, 2012 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township. He was the husband of Carole (Rosner) Beck. The couple celebrated 55 years of marriage on June 9. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Maurice J. Beck and Bertha (Cohen) Beck Hedson. He was a member of Congregation Keneseth Israel, Allentown. He was an Army Veteran serving during World War II in the 82nd Airborne Division and was accepted into the Officers Candidate School. He later became a Charter member of the National WWII Museum and was a member of the VFW. Irwin was the founder and owner of Beck Packaging Corporation of Allentown from 1971 to the present. He had attended Pasadena City College, was a 32nd Degree F. & A.M., and was a former member of the Allentown Kiwanis Club, Northampton Rotary Club and Berkleigh Country Club. Irwin enjoyed fishing, golfing and sports, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. Survivors: Wife; son, Dr. James M. Beck and his partner, Robert McGranaghan of Denver, CO; daughter, Jodi Beck Stoudt; granddaughters, Kelsi and Lindsi Stoudt. He was preceded in death by a brother, Alfred J. Beck. Services: Noon, Sunday, Congregation Keneseth Israel, 2227 W. Chew Street, Allentown, PA. Interment in Keneseth Israel Cemetery, Allentown. Arrangements by Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, Allentown.
