John Hrivnok
John Hrivnok, 86, of Lower Saucon Township, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 16, 2013, in St. Lukes Hospice House. His wife of 61 years, Dolores Hrivnok, passed away in 2011. Born in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late Andrew and Anna Hrivnok. He was employed by the Bethlehem Steel Co. for 33 years before retiring as a foreman in the Weldment Department. He also worked at Ingersoll Rand and Office Basics. John proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He served on the Aircraft Carrier USS Boxer CV 21 as an aircraft engine specialist to the fleet Admiral. He played baseball in the Catholic City League. He enjoyed fixing any type of engine and working outside in his woods. He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church. Survivors: Daughter, Rose Staats of Lower Saucon Township; three grandchildren, John Leighton, and his wife Meghan of Media, Sarah Lund, and her husband Christopher of Rye, N.H., and Emily Staats of Lower Saucon Township; and a great-grandson, Jack Leighton. He was predeceased by a son, John; a daughter, Renay Leighton and her husband Richard Leighton; brother, Andrew Hrivnok; and sisters, Mary Baran, Helen Shivok and Margaret Jenkins. Services: Will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, February 21, in the Pearson Funeral Home, 1901 Linden St., Bethlehem, followed by burial in Holy Saviour Cemetery. Family and friends may call 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., Thursday.
