Dr. Lydia R. Howard
Dr. Lydia R. Howard, 60, of Salisbury Township, died Oct. 17, 2008 in Allentown. Born in Atlanta, she was a daughter of the late George LaMarr Howard and Gwendolyn (Hinsley) Howard. She was a graduate of Spelman College and received her masters degree and Ph.D. from West Virginia University. She was a member and a Ruling Edler of Cathedral of Fresh Fire Inc., Wilmington, Del. Dr. Howard became an organist in church at the age of 12. It was evident early that she was marked for distinction and greatness. She graduated from high school at the age of 16 and went on to excel academically. She served in many capacities for the Church of God in Christ and organized the Third Generation of the National Church. She was the founder of Youth on the Move for Christ Inc. which birthed bishops, pastors, evangelists, psalmists and teachers. Dr. Howard was the administrative assistant and co-founder of the Children First Community Academy and Early Learning Center, Allentown. Survivors: Sister, Lytia Howard of Atlanta, Georgia; nieces, nephews. Services: noon Tuesday, Community Fellowship Cathedral, 518-26 N. Second St., Allentown. Viewing will be from 11 a.m. to noon on Tuesday in the cathedral. Interment will be in Atlanta, Georgia. Arrangements by Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, Allentown. Contributions: Lydia R.
