Mable B. Grantham
Mable B. Grantham, 96, of Allentown, went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 12, 2012. She was the wife of the late David L. Grantham, Sr. Born in Victoria, VA, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Viola (Wood) Hite. Mable worked as a presser for Phoenix Clothes for over 20 years before retiring in 1981. She was the oldest member of Union Baptist Church, Allentown. She sang with the choir, served on the finance board, and Missionary Society and the Number 1 Deaconess Board. She was a Church Cleric and Pastors Aide. In February 2000, she became a Mother of the Church. Mable was a faithful member of the church and attended services until her illness prevented her from attending. Survivors: Brother, Cleovis Hite of Brooklyn, NY; sister, Essie Harrell of Silver Springs, MD; 10 grandchildren, Freda, Eugene, Miguel, Herman, Barron, Danette (her primary care giver), David Kip, Jason, Michael and Tyrone; 14 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren, including Philip Grantham who she helped raise and Keiaudra Easley who lived with her. She was predeceased by her sons, Howard Wood and David L. Grantham, Jr.; daughters, Janette Royster and Joan Grantham; brother Clinton; sisters, Marie and Catherine; granddaughter Bartricia Trish Grantham. Services: 11 a.m., Friday, November 16, 2012 at Union Baptist Church 302 North 6th St., Allentown. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park, Allentown. Call 10 a.m. to time of service. Trexler Funeral Home Inc., Allentown is in charge of arrangements.
