Rev. Morgan Sylvester Haney
Reverend Morgan Sylvester Haney, 88, formerly of Bowmanstown, Allentown, and Topton, passed away Saturday, December 8 at The Phoebe Home, Allentown. He was the husband of Joanne Ruth Rehrig Thomas Haney of Allentown. They were married for 58 years this past September 11. Born in Pleasant Valley, Bucks County, he was the son of the late Jacob Lloyd and Mae Strawsnyder Haney. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree and his Master of Divinity Degree at Muhlenberg College, Allentown, PA. He served our country with the US Navy during WWII as a Radar Operator 3rd Class aboard the Naval Destroyer USS Albert W. Grant. He was employed as a Pastor for the United Church of Christ Southeastern Conference for 50 years. He was a member of Ben Salem UCC, Lehighton and served fulltime as a Pastor at Trinity Great Swamp, Spinnerstown, Chestnut Hill UCC, Coopersburg while providing ministry at the same time. He also served at Centenary Reformed UCC, Winchester VA and Christ UCC, Topton, PA. Survivors: Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, Morgan S. Buddy Haney Jr. and his wife Linda, of Laurys Station, Thomas B. Haney and his wife Tina, of Harleysville, PA, Patrick K. Haney and his wife Patricia of Northampton; a daughter, Pamela M., wife of Brian Bath of Laurys Station; a sister, Katherine Lord of Marcos Island, FL; 11 grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Services: A Celebration of Life Service will be announced this week. Memorial Contributions in his name may be made to The Phoebe-Devitt Homes, 1925 W. Turner St., Allentown, PA 18104.
