Peter Nevins, 68, of Allen Township, died Jan. 6 at the Inpatient Hospice Unit at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. He was the beloved husband of Gail Nevins, with whom he celebrated 45 years of marriage on Dec. 23. He was born in Manhattan, N.Y., on Nov. 27, 1938. He was the son of Marion Salter of Hollywood, Fla., and the late Bert Nevins, whose New York firm handled public relations for Hesss Department Store for many years during Max Hesss tenure. He attended the Ethical Culture Schools of New York, graduating from the Fieldston School of Riverdale, where he was captain of the baseball team. He attended Oberlin College, earned a B.B.A. degree from the University of Miami and earned a masters degree in Sport Management from East Stroudsburg University. He was the Sports Information Director at E.S.U. from 1969 until retiring in 2002 and was also an adjunct professor of a graduate course in Public Relations in Sport Management. He was a co-author of the book, Pride and Promise - A Centennial History of East Stroudsburg University. His name appears at N.C.A.A. headquarters in the Hall of Fame of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). He received the Warren Berg Award as the nations outstanding College Division S.I.D. and the Irving Marsh Award for outstanding service by the Eastern College Athletic Conference. He served as president of E.C.A.C.-S.I.D.A. and the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference S.I.D.s, and was also on the N.C.A.A. Public Relations Committee. He received numerous CoSIDA publication and writing awards in addition to state and campus service awards. During the 1960s, Peter worked as a sportswriter in Bridgeport, Conn., was president of the Connecticut Sportswriters Alliance and was the S.I.D. at the University of Bridgeport. He was a member of the Society of Professional Journalists, the Basketball Writers of America and the Football Writers of America. He was a veteran of the Army Reserve. Since retiring from E.S.U., Peter worked as a part-time sportswriter and weekly college columnist for the Pocono Record in Stroudsburg, was on the board of the Friends of the Eastern Monroe Public Library and the Foundation board, and was a volunteer facilitator at The Older Adult Learning Center in East Stroudsburg. He previously was involved in coaching Little League baseball in Stroudsburg and was president of the Clearview School P.T.O. Survivors: Wife; mother; two sons, Douglas Nevins and his wife Jenifer (Lewis) Nevins of West Chester, Daniel Nevins and his wife Lisa (Swart) Nevins of Wayne; grandchildren, Sean, Henlee and Kendall, all of West Chester, Luke of Wayne, Natalie and Phoebe of Wayne and Dublin, Ireland; brother, Bert Nevins Jr. and his wife Frances, of Plantation, Fla.; sister, Peggy Windsor and her husband Raymond of Plantation; three nephews, Scott Windsor, Aaron and Nathan Nevins. Services: A calling hour will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, followed by a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, both at the Abeloff Center for Performing Arts at the front circle of East Stroudsburg University in East Stroudsburg. Directions are I-80, Exit 308, right onto Prospect Street and right at second light into Front Circle at E.S.U. Arrangements are under the direction of the William H.
