Vito M. Sabie
Vito M. Sabie, 84, formerly of Bethlehem, PA died on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at The Hospital of Central Connecticut New Britain Campus. He was born June 10, 1929 in Dunmore, PA; son of the late Nicholas and Catherine (Mecca) Sabie. He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine (Cardone) Sabie. Vito proudly served in the US Air Force during the Korean War. He was a parishioner of Notre Dame of Bethlehem Catholic Church where he was a member of the Holy Name Society. Vito was very active in the Knights of Columbus Council #313, where he was a 4th degree knight and held various positions. He was also a member of the Bethlehem MORA Club, Bethlehem UNICO, Fountain Hill American Legion and a life member of both the N.E. Wanders A.A. and Fearless Fire Co. Survivors: Vito will be dearly missed by his daughter, Janice Johnson, wife of Anthony of Kensington, CT; son, Nicholas Sabie, husband of Patricia Boyle of Reisterstown, MD; grandchildren, Kathyrn Ferguson, wife of Bryan, Meghan Albus and Briehan, Justin and Alexa Sabie; and his sister, Carmella Gavin. He was predeceased by his sister, Jennie Cannon; and brother, Salvatore Sabie. Services: A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 from 7 to 9 p.m. at The Connell Funeral Home, 245 E. Broad St., Bethlehem, PA 18018 and again on Wednesday from 8 to 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday at Notre Dame of Bethlehem, 1861 Catasauqua Rd., Bethlehem, PA 18018. Burial will be at Holy Saviour Cemetery.
