As I desperately struggle to cope with the inexplicable loss of Tammy Jo Brandt, my cousin's son's devoted wife, a proud and loving mother, a beautiful family member and friend to all, I came across the following poem that has, at least for a moment, given me some comfort:

I do not sleep.
I am thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
And when you awaken in the morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft star that shines at night.
Do not stand there and cry,
I am not there, I did not die.

To Tammy's family:
Having only known Tammy as a fellow twin mommy from TMMB does not make her passing any less painful. I can only imagine what you all are going through right now. Our prayers and condolences are with your family now and years from now as I remember Ben and Kyle (they are one week older than my twin boys). I hurt for each of you and the loss that you have. I pray that you will find peace and understanding during this difficult time.

Was there any situation that Tammy couldn't find the positive aspect of? I cannot express how much richness Tammy brought to my life and the lives of everyone around her. Who else could make you want nothing more than to discover the mysteries of Chaos Theory or spend an evening looking at fractals? Tammy's incredible smile lives on through her lovely little boys. We will miss you so much. All my love to Bobby, Benjamin and Kyle, the Gebhardts, and all of Tammy's friends and loved ones.

Tammy's family,

Even though I only just met Tammy recently, through Khyla marring my son Justin, I could tell she was a wonderful person. I recently have had a huge loss in my life as well with the death of my husband Daryl, I know what you are going through. Please know that you will find each day a little easier. The ache does not go away, but you will learn to live with the pain. Don't be afraid to talk about Tammy, for this really does help. Remember the good times with her and take strength in your love for her wonderful babies. Bobbie, you will need to lean on your family now, I know they will be there for you. Make sure you take care of yourself, for your babies need you.

You are all in my thoughts and prayers. May god bless all of you.

Bobby,

I cannot begin to fathom how you must feel, losing your beautiful young wife—the mother of your two wonderful young sons, so abruptly and at such a young age.

I am truly saddened by your tremendous sudden and inexplicable loss.

May you be blessed with much internal fortitude to persevere as you proceed forward unto unchartered territory, raising your children as a single parent.

May the love that you and Tammy shared guide you on your new journey.

I offer my sincere condolences at this most difficult time.

Rest in Peace, Tammy.
