Lance Corporal Andrew D. Russoli
Lance Corporal Andrew David Russoli, USMC, 21, of Greensboro, N.C., was killed during active duty on October 20, 2005, near Nasser WaSalaam, Iraq. He was born in Hollywood, Fla., but had resided in Greensboro since July of 1988. He was a 2003 graduate of Northwest High School, where he was active in the Drama Club, played lacrosse, was a member of the Junior NROTC and had played trombone in the Northwest Middle School Jazz Band. He was an active member of College Park Baptist Church, Greensboro, where he was a member of the Youth Fellowship and served in many other roles as well. He was an active participant of Pleasant Ridge Christian Church, where he played hand bells. He was a volunteer shelter shelter worker for the American Red Cross. He had many interests throughout his life, including Kung Fu, sailing, fencing and soccer, and was an active member of Young Life. Survivors: Mother, Sally L. White of Greensboro; father, Roland I. Russoli and stepmother Sarah Nelson of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia; brother, Roland I. Russoli Jr. of Greensboro; stepsisters, Mary Elizabeth McLendon of Eugene, Oregon, Lee Anne McLendon of Chapel Hill, N.C. Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 2, 2005, College Park Baptist Church, 1601 Walker Ave., Greensboro, with Reverend Michael Usey and Reverend Peggy Haymes officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the church. Arrangements, Forbis and Dick Guilford Chapel, Greensboro. Contributions: The family requests that memorial contributions be made to College Park Baptist Church 27403.
