Richard Jones
Richard P. Jones, 84, of Palmer Township, formerly of Clinton, NJ, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2014, at the St. Lukes University Hospital - Anderson Campus, Bethlehem Township. He was the husband of Naomi R. (Kivler) Jones with whom he shared 57 years of marriage on November 17th. Born September 01, 1929 in Camden, NJ, he was a son of the late Clarence and Ruth (Money) Jones. Richard graduated from Towanda High School in 1948 and honorably served in the United States Air Force for 5 years as a member of the Air Training Command in Tyndall Air Force Base, Panama City, FLA. He then attended Wilkes University graduating with a degree in Secondary Education as an English major. Richard taught English at Lawrence High School in Lawrence, NY for 4 years. He then taught English at North Hunterdon High School for 34 years. Richard served as the Director of Adult Education for North Hunterdon High School for 30 years, assisting in the development of the Hunterdon County Adult Education program. He also founded the Future Teachers of America at North Hunterdon. Richard continued his college studies at Hofstra University, receiving a Masters in Secondary Education. He attended Rutgers University, receiving a Masters in Secondary Administration and then receiving a Masters in Adult Education. Richard was a former member of the Clinton Presbyterian Church of Clinton, NJ where he served as an usher, deacon, and trustee. He later was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, Bethlehem where he was an usher, member of the Lay Ministry Team, Inquirers Committee, Hospitality Committee and completed all the Disciple programs offered. Richard was a member of the Stewart Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons in Clinton, NJ. He served in the various chairs and then was Worshipful Master and then Secretary. Richard was associated with Educational Testing Services of Princeton, NJ, as well as a member of the tutoring staff of College Skills Center of Mendham, NJ. Additionally, he taught part-time at Northampton Community College. Survivors: In addition to his loving wife, Naomi, he is survived by his brother, C. Robert Jones; as well as a brother-in-law, Donald C. Kivler of Nanticoke, PA. Services: Will be private, at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements have been entrusted to the George G. Bensing Funeral Home, Inc., Village of Moorestown - Bath.
