Hirst M. Trexler, Jr.
Hirst M. Trexler, Jr., 93, of Allentown passed away Monday, February 10, 2014, in St. Lukes Hospital Allentown. He was the husband of the late Norah T. (Duffy) Trexler, who he met in England during the war, and she became a war bride. Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Hirst M. Sr. and Mildred (Shuster) Trexler. He graduated from Allentown High School in 1938. He was drafted in the Army during WWII where he served as a German translator. During the service he attended the University of Alabama, Georgetown University and Shardham University in London. He graduated from Muhlenberg Collage in 1947. He was employed at Western Electric for 35 years retiring in 1981. He loved his family and friends, hot sauce, raw clams, pinochle on Saturday nights, and going to Wildwood every July. He sang for the choir at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Allentown and sang in a Barber Shop Quartet in the 1950s. Survivors: Daughter, Catherine wife of Daniel Heintzelman of Whitehall; son, Keith and wife Nancy Trexler of Allentown; grandchildren, Dr. Kevin and wife Ruth Heintzelman, Drs. Kristopher and wife Rebecca Heintzelman, Scott and wife Michelle Trexler, and Jason and wife Debra Trexler; great-grandchildren, Alexander, Brian, Jonathon, and Steven Heintzelman, Zachary, Drew, Justin, Gracie, and Gabriel Trexler. He was predeceased by three great-grandchildren; and brother, John Trexler. Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 14, 2014, at the Trexler Funeral Home, 1625 Highland St., Allentown, PA 18102. Calling 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral home. Contributions: In lieu of flowers contributions to thecharity of ones choice.
