Sophie (Sally) Gladish, 84, of Whitehall, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter Sandy Superka on Sunday, February 16, 2014, surrounded by loving family members. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard J. Gladish. Sophie was the daughter of the late Frank and Rose Salash of Northampton. Sophie was a member of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church where she sang on the church choir and was a pierogie maker. She enjoyed being a member of the Friendly Fifties Senior Citizens Group as well as taking casino bus trips. Sally was a lifelong resident of Cementon being very active in the ladies auxiliary. Survivors: daughters Sandy Superka, Kathy, wife of Ed Stefanyak, son Rick and wife Gina, all of Whitehall, eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, sister Pauline Miller, caregiver/family friend Shannon McBride. Predeceased by a son Joseph R. Gladish, sisters Anna Adlon, Mary Mosser, Helen Gilbert and brothers Joseph, Michael, John and Frank Salash. Services: Divine Liturgy at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church in Northampton on Friday, February 21, at 10:30 a.m. Family and friends may call on Friday from 8:30 to 10 a.m. in the Reichel Funeral Home, 326 E. 21st Street, Northampton. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Contributions: St. John the Baptist Church or Heartland Hospice in care of Reichel Funeral Home.
