Erwin W. Bart Bartholomew, 86, of Bethlehem and formerly of Broadheadsville, Pa., passed away peacefully on Friday, March 14, 2014, while at Muhlenberg Hospital. He was the devoted husband of Jacqueline S. (Aungst) Bartholomew, with whom he shared over 65 years of marriage. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Erwin W., Sr. and Ruth M. (Jacobs) Bartholomew. Bart was a graduate of Liberty High School in Bethlehem and served in the United States Air Force during the Korean and Viet Nam Wars and for 21 years, before retiring in 1969. He was a dedicated member of the Zion United Lutheran Church in Broadheadsville, where he was an Usher, Choir member and Property Chairperson. As a young man, Bart enjoyed athletics and later gardening and fishing, but most especially being a grandfather. Survivors: His loving family include, his wife, Jackie, a daughter, Sharyn E. Gallino of Douglassville, a son, William H. Bartholomew and his wife, Barbara of Fredericksburg, VA, a sister, Ruth Bealer of Bethlehem, five grandchildren, Matthew Gallino, his wife, Rosalind and their sons, Jonathan and Alexander; Christopher Gallino, his wife, Katherine and their daughter, Rowan; Michael Gallino; Sean Bartholomew and his wife, Nina and Heather Bartholomew. Bart was preceded in death by a brother, Donald and sisters, Dolores Danner and Barbara Nickels. Services: Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, March 20, 2014 in the Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden Street, Bethlehem 18018, where friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of service.
