Werner, Shirley A.Shirley A. Werner, 78, of Hanover Township, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Westminster Village, Allentown. She was the wife of Leo H. Werner, with whom she shared over 57 years of loving marriage. Born in Bath, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Julia (Feirtag) Haftl. She worked as a secretary for the Penn Dixie Company. Shirley was a member of the former Christ Lutheran Church in Hanover Township, where she was active in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, with the Memorial Committee, and also served on the church council. She greatly enjoyed volunteering at Musikfest for over 15 years. Survivors: Husband Leo; daughter Kristi Wert and her husband Chuck of Nazareth; son Kelly Werner of Suffolk, VA; brother Adolph Haftl of Bath; sisters Arlen Oplinger of Bath, Helen Henning of Bath, Esther Illigash of Coplay; grandchildren Julia, Matthew, Kayla and Kyle. Shirley was predeceased by her siblings Paul Haftl, Frank Haftl, Julia Cory, Louise Fisher, Freida Burley and Celia Selfies. Services: Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday in the Long Funeral Home, 500 Linden St, Bethlehem, where friends may call on Monday evening from 6 until 8 PM. A memory tribute may be placed at Contributions: In lieu of flowers, to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 206 E. Main St, Bath, PA 18014.
