Ruth E. Stauffer Obituary
Stauffer, Ruth E.Ruth E. Stauffer, 92, formerly of Shimerville, died April 2, 2014 in Lehigh Valley Hospital. She was the widow of Albert E. Stauffer. Born in Northampton, she was the daughter of the late Edward E. and Mary A. (Huter) Montz. She was a graduate of Allentown Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as an infirmary nurse at Cedar Crest College and previously worked at Allentown Hospital, retiring in 1978. She was a member of the Macungie VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Whitehall AARP, and Bell Telephone Pioneers. She helped to organize the Lower Lehigh AARP. Mom was ready to move on and frequently expressed that she had a great life and did everything she wanted to do. She was at the Sand's Casino on Friday! She led a rich life full of small town stories, travelled to many countries, could recite the Casinos in Vegas in the correct order from north to south, read Smithsonian and National Geographic magazine cover to cover every month, knew NYC from east to west, she loved Copenhagen, beer and pretzels, the Phillies, wine and cheese. But her all-time favorite were the Hawaiian Islands. She knew every bend in the road on the road to Hana. Ruth and Al were lucky enough to visit the islands many times. She even met Don Ho, Joe DiMaggio and Eleanor Roosevelt over the years. Above all else, She loved her family most of all. She is at peace. Survivors: Sons, Wallace R. Stauffer and wife Maryann of Old Zionsville, Alan A. Stauffer and wife Kay of New Tripoli, and Jeffrey D. Stauffer of Wilmington, NC; 5 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren. Services: Private at the convenience of the family. Schantz Funeral Home, Emmaus is handling arrangements.
