Walter C. Haftl Obituary
Haftl, Walter C."Walt" Haftl, 91, a 10-year resident of Gambrills, MD, and previously of Lehigh Township, PA, died April 13, 2014. Born March 13, 1923, in West Coplay (Stiles), PA, Walt served his country overseas during World War II. Upon his return, he received his GED, and went on to earn a B.S. from Moravian College and a M.S. in Business from Columbia University in NY. Walt worked as an accountant for the federal government for over 20 years. After retirement, he worked for the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association and H&R Block. Walt enjoyed reading, tinkering with his computer, helping friends and neighbors with their taxes, and spending time with his family. Survivors: He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Rosa (Buritsch), brothers Alfred, Franklin, and Raymond and sister, Rose Miller. Walt is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ann, and sisters, Elsie Miller and Margaret Kratzer, both of Lehigh Twp.; beloved father of two daughters, Jennifer Haftl, and Emily Lagana and husband Michael; loving grandfather of one grandson, Dominic; many nieces and nephews. Services: Family and friends are invited to a visitation and memorial service on Tuesday, April 22, from Noon -1:30 p.m. at the Kreamer Funeral Home, 618 E Main St., Annville. Burial at 2:00 p.m., Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.
