Heffelfinger, Nelson W.Nelson W. Heffelfinger, 78 of Northampton, PA. died on Saturday, April 19, 2014, at Lehigh Valley Hospital - Muhlenberg Campus in Bethlehem, PA. Born November 2, 1935 in Northampton, he was the son of the late Howard and Grace (Dettmer) Heffelfinger. He was the husband of Dolores (Pfeiffer) Heffelfinger, together they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last July 13, 2013. Nelson was last employed as Roadmaster for Mahoning Township for 5 years before retiring in 2008. Prior to he worked in the same capacity for W. Rockhill Twsp.1996-2003 and Springfield Twsp.1994-1996, and prior to he worked as Roadmaster and Supervisor for Allen Twsp for 25 years. In his earlier years he and Dolores also owned and operated the former Hillside Drive Inn and Golf Course, Northampton and before that while working at Coca Cola Co., Allentown he also was the former owner of Blue Mountain Rest in Danielsville, PA. He served his country as a SP4 in the Army from 1957 until 1960. An avid outdoorsman who enjoyed his fishing and hunting as a member of the Lappawinzo Fish and Game Assoc., Northampton, Ranger Lake, and Grouse Hall Fish and Game, both of Coplay, PA; He was also a member of the Allen Twsp. Vol. Fire Co. and American Legion Post #945. In addition to his memberships he enjoyed planting his garden and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Survivors: Along with his wife Dolores are; Three Daughters; Grace wife of Keith Kern of Lehighton, PA; Tina wife of Chris Biery of Northampton, PA; Lisa wife of Shane Gagliardi of Bulmida, Australia; A Son; Howard Heffelfinger & wife Karen of Saint Louis, MO, 8- Grandchildren: Katie, Nicholas, Joshua, Jacob, Logan, Kathryn, Lucy, and Belle. Several Nieces and Nephews. He was predeceased by 3 Sisters. Services: A Memorial Service will be held at 3:30 PM on Monday April 28, 2014 at Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Avenue Northampton, PA. 18067. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM prior to the services. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Contributions: May be made to Lappawinzo Fish & Game Assoc. or the Wildlands Conservancy both C/O the funeral home.
