Kline, Wilbur J.Wilbur J. "Bill" Kline, 90 of Walnutport, Lehigh Twsp. died Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at his home with family by his side. He was the husband of the late Elizabeth B. "Betty" (Stever) Kline with whom he shared 70 years of marriage last March 13, 2013 prior to her passing in August. Born in Allentown, PA., he was the son of the late Harvey J. and Josephine K. (Weiser) Kline. Bill was best known as General Manager for over 25 years along with his wife Betty assisting their late Son-in-law at Northampton Coin and Jewelry, Northampton until 2007 when he was 83. Prior to he was a Supervisor for 10 years for Champion Spark Plugs, Bethlehem, PA. Before that he worked at Bonney Forge, Allentown and H & R Industries, Nazareth. His working years first started as a Navigator on the Lehigh River for the former Lehigh Coal and Canal of Jim Thorpe. A member of Emmanel Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bath; A former member and Past President of the Northampton High School Big-N-Band Booster Club for over 20 years. A Charter and Life member of the Walnutport V.F.W. Post #7215 and a Charter and Life Member of the National WWII Memorial, Washington, DC. He served his country as a Radio Operator in the Army Air Corps during WWII, with the 94th Troop Carrier Squadron, he was involved in every airborne invasion. During their last run Staff Sergeant Kline's plane was shot down over enemy territory, where he became a prisoner of war and narrowly escaped being executed by a firing squad. Up until his last days, his favorite stories to tell were those of his experiences in Europe. Bill was honored with his Military Story being recognized, and recorded as a part of the Veteran History Project which is on file at the U.S. Library of Congress in Washington D.C. Survivors: Surviving are daughters; Linda A. wife of John McKenzie of Walnutport, PA and Sandy L. w/o the Late David L.Howell of Northampton, PA, Brother; Henry C. Kline & wife Betty of Walnutport, PA; 5 Grandchildren: John, Jim, Meagan, Seth and Sarah; 7 Great-Grandchildren. Services: A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday June 3, 2014 at Emmanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3175 Valley View Drive Bath, PA. 18014 with the Rev. Barry and Elizabeth Mitchell officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, June 2, 2014, at Schisler Funeral Home, 2119 Washington Ave., Northampton, PA. 18067. Also Tuesday, June 3, 2014 from 10:00am to 11:00am prior to the services in the church. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Emmanuelsville, PA.
