Evelyn A. Reimschissel Obituary
Reimschissel, Evelyn A.Evelyn A. Reimschissel, 92, of South Whitehall Township went to be with the Lord Sunday, June 1, 2014. She was the beloved wife of Alfred L. Reimschissel and the mother of Carol and James. She grew up on a farm in what was the country village of Crackersport, PA with her parents, Joseph and Cecelia (Sherman) Flemish (Flamisch), who emigrated here from the province of Burgenland, Austria, and brother Joseph, and sisters Rose, Elsie and Margaret along with her in-laws Irene, Charles, Russell and Lish. On many occasions, their neighbor, General Trexler, would wave to the Flemish family as he rode by their farm on his horse. Throughout their life this family lived within miles of each other. Evelyn graduated from South Whitehall High School and went on to proudly serve as Parkland School District's first school nurse. Receiving an RN from the respected Allentown School of Nursing Hospital co-op hospital program, she was employed as a medical surgical nurse for Allentown Hospital at 17th St. and as a nurse for the Navy's V-12 program at Muhlenberg College. Throughout her life she steadfastly advocated and cared for relatives, friends, young people and animals. She supported her husband's work with the Parkland High School Band and her children's endeavors. She modeled principles of personal health care and safety and participated in the Harvard Health Study. She greatly enjoyed travel, camping and family genealogy. She was a loyal friend to her high school classmates, her nursing class and her colleagues. Survivors: In addition to her husband, Alfred, she is kept in prayer and praise by loving, caring family, friends and advocates including Carol, George, Tanya, Claudia, Loretta, Joey, Carolyn, Patricia, Elsie, Cheryl, Randy, Ruth, Lenny, Karen, Troy, Gloria and Al and their families. Services: 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 5, at Trexler Funeral Home, 1625 Highland St., Allentown. Calling will be held 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
