Ross, Harry PattersonHarry P. Ross, 90, formerly of Emmaus, PA, now of Willow Valley Communities, went home to His Lord on Sunday, July 27, 2014. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of Edgar H. and Helen (Brough) Ross and the husband of Marian (Miller) Ross. He was a graduate of Bartram HS, Phila. At 19, he enlisted in the Naval Air Force, serving in N. Africa, England, Normandy, and at D-Day, then served at Patuxent River Naval Station, MD. In March of 1952, he was married, discharged from the Navy, and began working in the Bell Labs/Western Electric system for 37 years. He was very active in community life as a Boy Scout Leader of Troop 27 in Emmaus, Rotary Club, Little League Coach, and former PTA President. He was also very active in church leadership at St. Margaret's Episcopal Church, Emmaus, Faith Evangelical Free Church, Trexlertown, and Cedar Crest Bible Fellowship Church. He and Marian served the Lord with Cadence Int., a ministry to American military in Germany, England, and Missouri for 9 years. Ross pursued an electrical engineering degree at Lafayette College, graduating in 1962. In 2002 he had the honor of receiving the Distinguished Flying Cross for completing 45 combat missions during WWII. He remained an avid tennis player. A special thanks to his caregivers at the Willow Valley Communities Alzheimer's Unit. Harry was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be dearly missed. Survivors: Wife; Son, Michael D. Ross and wife Kelli of Palmyra; Daughters, Barbara J. Schuler of Allentown and Diane R. wife of Dr. Jeffrey Godwin of Buckhannon, WV; 15 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren. He was predeceased by daughters, Sandra M. Lopez and Susan R. Chassard. Services: Funeral Services Saturday, August 2, 2014 at 11:00 AM in Cedar Crest Bible Fellowship Church, 1151 S. Cedar Crest Blvd., Allentown. Viewing 9:30 to 11:00 AM in the church. Entombment with military honors will follow in Cedar Hill Memorial Park.
