Bowie, Anita D.Anita D. Bowie, 93, of Emmaus, passed away Aug. 7th, 2014 in her home. She was the wife of Donald S. Bowie Jr., with whom she shared 65 years of marriage. The two met while Donald was a student at the Harvard School of Law. Born in Winchendon, MA, she was the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Ida (Dufault) Deschenes. She received her nursing degree from Massachusetts Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Boston. Anita was a registered nurse in the United States Navy during World War II specializing in Pediatric care and polio research. While with the Navy she attained the rank of Lt. (jg). She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Allentown and served on several committees. She also volunteered at the Blind Association and the Lehigh Valley Hospital. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, reading and spending time at their home in Long Beach Island, N.J. They also enjoyed extensive traveling during their retirement. Survivors: Loving husband, Donald; daughters, Barbara Kulakowsky and her husband Barry, Douglassville, PA and Ann Fox and her husband Richard, Emmaus; grandchildren, Lisa, Peter, Natalie, Bruce, Timothy & Maria; great grandchildren, Penelope, Grace, Chloe and Brodie. She was predeceased by her son D. Bruce Bowie. Services: Tuesday 1PM at First Presbyterian Church, 3231 Tilghman Street, Allentown. Burial will follow at Jerusalem Western Salisbury Cemetery, Allentown. There will be a calling hour at the church Tuesday 12-1 PM. Arrangements by Bachman, Kulik & Reinsmith Funeral Home, Emmaus.
