Mary Alice (Marie) Griesemer Obituary
Griesemer, Mary Alice (Marie)Mary Alice (Marie) Griesemer, 89, formerly of Northampton, PA, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 17th at Brighton Gardens in Tampa, FL. Born March 19, 1925 in Widnes, Lancashire, England, she was the daughter of Frederick Holian and Martha Holian Kennedy. Marie married Harold (Buddy) Griesemer in 1946 and as a WWII war bride came to the United States. She and Buddy lived in Northampton, PA where they raised 3 daughters. She worked for Durell Manufacturing and was the dry goods manager at JJ Newberry's for many years. She was a member and past president of the Northampton chapter of the Business and Professional Women's Club and was an active member of the Women's Auxiliary of the Catholic War Veterans, Post 454. She and Harold were former members of the Queenship of Mary Catholic Church in Northampton. Marie and Buddy retired to Florida where they were active in their community and enjoyed cruising and traveling to Europe to visit family. Survivors: Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters, Dianne Missmer and husband Richard of Whitehall, PA, Jeanette Hammel and husband Alfred of Glens Falls, NY, and Corliss Frisch and husband Stephen of Northampton, PA; six grandchildren, Alfred and wife Sara, Benjamin, James and Jeffrey Hammel, Stephen and John Frisch; five great-grandchildren, Sophia, Charles, Connor, Kellen and Evelyn Hammel. She is also survived by a brother, Tom Kennedy and wife Rose and a brother-in-law, Graham Johnson all of England. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Harold, her brother Frederick Holian and sisters Eileen Porter and Sheila Johnson. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Elizabeth Lyon-Hall of Elder Advocates and to Sherri McArthur, Marie's caregiver, whose dedication over the past 4 years provided our mother with a wonderful quality of life. Services: Will be private and at the convenience of the family.
