Norman M. Kern
Norman M. Kern, 88, of Walnutport, passed away December 21, 2010, in his home. He was the husband of Betty (Diefenderfer) Kern. They celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary this past June. Born in Slatington, he was the son of the late Norman J. and Annie (Frey) Kern. Norman worked for Bethlehem Steel as a laborer until his retirement in 1983. He had a great passion for gardening. Survivors: His wife, Betty; daughters, Norma Kalkan, of Lehighton, Kathleen and husband, John Kehley, of Kunkletown; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sisters, Eleanor Jones, of Catasauqua, and Linda Pfautz, of Hellertown. Services: 11 a.m., Friday, December 24, 2010 at Harding Funeral Home, 25-27 N. Second St., Slatington. Calling hour 10 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Contributions: In lieu of flowers, to the American Cancer Society, 3893 Adler Place, Bethlehem, PA 18017.
